[Consumption Voucher Scheme]

The “Consumption Voucher Scheme” aims to provide relief from financial pressure for the community. Have you ever wondered how our more vulnerable community-members spend their money? MIW asked few members and they expressed that the consumption coupon helps them meet their most urgent needs: “We usually go and buy our daily necessity and food from the supermarket ” said one member. Another stated that: “Octopus cards can be used in fresh food markets now; it is very convenient for me to buy fresh food there.” They mainly spent the money on their basic needs and the rest is saved as emergency contingency funds. There is no chance for them to spend these much-needed funds on special luxuries or material goods.

Different people have different ways of spending their supplementary funds. MIW finds that their vulnerable members are cautious with their spending. Although the consumption vouchers have brought crucial financial relief to those in need during these difficult times, it is through community led initiatives and valuable donations to better the well-being of our neighbors that we are able to make a lasting impact. We hope all our wonderful and kind supporters will continue to help those in need
