[Surviving under the pandemic]

JING’s family lives under difficult circumstances. Due to a work injury, she is no longer able to work as a construction worker. With her husband underemployed and her daughter receiving a meager income, it is challenging to make ends meet as they also have to support her son in school as well as her elderly parents.

Together, the family lives in a subdivided unit which they rent for about 5000HKD. The house is hardly a home with bare walls full of mold and a serious water leakage problem; even if the family works hard, they are still unable to improve their living conditions.

After learning about their situation, MIW immediately began providing free hot meals to support them and help reduce their living expenses. We also assisted them in applying for assistance from the Social Welfare Department in hopes that the extra support will aid in improving their living situation and help them regain a feeling of home.
