Resilience and assistance under the pandemic

Resilience and assistance under the pandemic

Mr Ho’s Story

We met Mr. Ho for the first time in 2017. At the time, he was struggling to make ends meet with his job as a shipping clerk and was looking to change careers. After completing a Physiotherapy Assistant Training Course at the ERB, he successfully became a physiotherapy assistant. He followed the suggestion of his physiotherapy tutor and offered his services to Elderly Homes and door-to-door services to clients, with which he was able to earn a steady income.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Mr. Ho has not been able to perform such professional services anymore, so his income has dropped significantly. He once again joined a Make It Work Centre where he was able to obtain affordable lunches and up-to-date career information. With the encouragement of our staff, he joined a health care course and feels empowered to forge a new career path while learning to update his professional knowledge.

He shared that he was happy to see the two staff that had helped him the first time around, and once again encouraged him to overcome the difficulties he is facing now under the pandemic.
