[Just a little change makes a big difference]

First impressions are important! How we are perceived by someone in the first few minutes can really impact what they think of us. By presenting yourself well, being neat and tidy, you can become more confident, and increase your chances of landing jobs.

In September, MIW organized a series of Personal Grooming Workshops, complete with some fun mini games! The members were taught best practices for how to be more presentable for interviews, such as having good personal grooming and etiquette as well as tips on what to wear. We also invited a personal grooming instructor to teach skin care tips, and how members can build their personal image and become more confident by developing and focusing on their style and “look”.

Some members said: “Oh, I haven’t changed my hair style for a decade” and “I really looked tired; I wish I looked more cheerful!” The workshop helped members understand that just small changes can make all the difference. Attention to personal grooming can help our members feel more self-assured, positive, and confident – all things that help lead to better opportunities for getting a job!
