[Food waste reduction · Don’t be a Big Waster]

MIW is able to have outdoor activities again! Do you recognize this great big orange character? It’s the Big Waster who reminds us not to order too much food and to reduce food waste. Big Waster is on display at the O·PARK1, the only organic resource recycling center in Hong Kong !

MIW members had a fantastic visit to this recycling centre where we learnt about anaerobic digestion technology to convert food waste into biogas, and how the residue from the process can produces compost for landscaping and agricultural use. The guided tour helped our members be more informed about environmental awareness and taught them how to avoid being a Big Waster by being mindful of their consumption habits.
