[Committed to empowering the members]
MIW program offers support to unemployed members by guiding them through retraining courses and the interview process. Our social worker first makes a career plan with our members once they’ve joined. For those in urgent need of finding work and who would like to change careers, they are directed to a 150-hour ERB course in which they are trained to be personal care workers. After completing the course, they receive a certificate and are eligible for a HKD2000 subsidy. Our employment officer will search for relevant job openings and arrange interviews for suitable members.
For instance, an elderly daycare centre could offer a qualified candidate 1-year contract with a basic salary of HKD14750 plus HKD600 allowance. After the contract, the employee will also receive another HKD4800 gratuity. MIW also provides post-employment services to make sure that members have adjusted well to their new jobs.
